CANADIAN PEAT MOSS
Peat forms over centuries as plant material accumulates in cool, moist and oxygen-poor wetlands. In these conditions, plant growth exceeds decomposition and a peat deposit gradually develops.
Canadian peatlands typically accumulate peat at approximately 0.5 to 1 mm per year. Responsible resource management and careful processing help preserve the natural structure and performance of sphagnum peat moss.
